Care Guide | Asplenium nidus/ Bird’s Nest Fern

High humidity is ideal for Bird's Nest Fern growth. To improve the moisture content around the plant, mist its foliage frequently or use a humidity tray. Make sure there's adequate airflow to avoid fungal problems.

Throughout the growing season, keep the soil uniformly moist. When the top inch of soil appears dry to the touch, add water. Use a potting mix that drains well and is high in organic matter, such as one made specifically for ferns or a combination of pine bark, perlite, and peat moss.

Bright, indirect light is preferred by Bird's Nest Ferns. Lower light levels are acceptable to them, but they should stay out of direct sunlight since it might scorch their fragile leaves. Put them in a room with lots of natural light or next to a window that lets in filtered light.

  • Feed with a balanced liquid fertilizer diluted to half-strength every 4-6 weeks during the growing season.

  • Trim off any yellow or dead leaves to maintain the plant's appearance and health.
